Week 7

Hey Parents,

Just wanted to let you know we will be covering the body for the next several weeks.  Each week, the children will be required to color the body parts for the week.  I was hoping that some of you could bring some extra crayons if you have them each week so that the process will go faster.  These crayons come in the box of 64 crayons and above.  Here are the following colors we will need:

silver
gold
blue
red
brick red
mango tango
yellow
purple
yellow green
timberwolf
red
orange
atomic tangerine
burnt orange
mahogany
pink
periwinkle or sky blue

We will also be using the tin whistle for the next 6 weeks.  Please bring each week and have your child's name written on them in permanent marker if possible.

Week One

Dear Parents,

Well we made it through week 1!  I thought the first day went really well, and I hope that all of you feel the same.  I hope your children had as much fun as I did and that they learned a lot :)

Next week Presentations will be tell us your favorite short story.

Here are a few suggestions that might help you this week:

The infinitive song we used in class can be found on cc connected.  Just type in English cycle 3 in your search and you should be able to find it easily.

Also on CC connected there are some great Latin worksheets that has the words for each week ready for your kids to trace.  They can practice their letter writing and their Latin at the same time!  I found it by typing Latin cycle 3 in the search.

I also have a fun hands on idea that can be used this week or next:  French Bread Pizza Boats.  (We call them Mayflower Pizza at our house, but you can make call them the Nina, Pinta or the Santa Maria as well)  All you have to do is buy french bread pistolettes, cut them in half, spread pizza sauce and add toppings and cheese.  Bake until cheese is melted and bread is crispy.  Then I use wooden skewers (sometimes I break them in half depending on how long they are) and put sliced cheese on the skewers for sails.  Then you have made Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria or Mayflower Pizza!  I plan on doing this with my kids while we play the song in the background.  Hope you enjoy!

Well, again I enjoyed teaching your children this week and look forward to another great day for week 2.  Please call or text me if you have any questions or if you need to talk to me.  See you on Tuesday!

Blessings,
Rebecca Nettles

Welcome Letter from Mrs. Nettles

Dear Parents,

I am excited to be your child's CC Foundations Class Tutor this year.   Before I had children, I taught pre-Kindergarten for five years in the Jefferson Parish Public School System.  In addition, I taught for five years at St. Matthew's Preschool (Metairie, LA) prior to graduating from the University of New Orleans with a degree in early childhood development and elementary education.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Duane, for ten years.  We have two beautiful boys, Jackson and Bennett.  Jackson is in the fourth grade and his third year of homeschooling and Classical Conversations.  Bennett is in Kindergarten and his third year of homeschooling, and his second year of Classical Conversations.   I have loved every minute of our homeschool journey and have been blessed abundantly by being a part of this CC Community.  I am looking forward to being back in the classroom environment for CC and working with both you and your children this year.  Please don't hesitate to contact me for any reasons.  My information is below my signature.

Yours in Christ,
Rebecca Nettles
